Halaal products showcased in Cape Town
Cape Town – The International Trade Unit Wesgro (the official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape) will host an international halaal product exhibition in Cape Town from 25 to 26 October 2017.
It will take place at the Westin Cape Town and Cape companies that would like to participate to contact the unit for further details.
The exhibition will provide Western Cape companies an opportunity to showcase their halaal certified products and services to international buyers from the rest of Africa, Asia, Middle East and Europe.
Buyers will be in the Cape in search of new and innovative products and services for their distribution networks.
The Western Cape Government has identified the international halaal industry as an important trade opportunity for Western Cape companies. To this end, Wesgro has intensified its trade efforts within this sector and is achieving remarkable results.
“In March this year our halaal trade mission to Senegal secured R100m worth of trade. In July our research unit published its first halaal market research paper, which provides various insights into the halaal industry, ranging from background and definitions to starting a halaal food and beverage business and getting certified,” said Wesgro CEO Tim Harris.
“We have even more workshops and inward/outward missions to key halaal markets lined up over the next financial year, and in the first quarter of 2018 will host the first African Halaal Expo in Cape Town so we encourage Cape businesses of all sizes to contact us to access these opportunities.”
